Postcard 4 – Feargus O’Connor medal Issued to members of the Great Northern Union, the organisation set up by Feargus O’Connor to unite radical workers in the North of England, this medal features a picture of O’Connor on the front and ‘the five great principles of radicalism on the back. £5 for pack of six postcards (plus £1.50 p&p). Postcard 5 – Royal proclamation In the summer of 1842, as a great strike wave swept across Britain’s industrial heartlands to oppose pay cuts and demand the People’s Charter, the monarch, Queen Victoria, issued this proclamation offering potential informers a reward of £50 for each person convicted – a year’s wages or more for many. £5 for pack of six postcards (plus £1.50 p&p).
